Support
How can I help?
Quick fixes for the common snags. If yours isn’t here, email kartik@kartikkabadi.com with your macOS version, the site, and what you saw. A person answers.
Lost your license key?
Enter the email you used at checkout and we’ll send your key again.
You can also find it in Whop › Orders after signing in with the same email.
Installing
How do I install Cedar?
Open Terminal (press ⌘ Space and type “Terminal”), paste this line, and press Return:
curl -fsSL https://cedar.kartikkabadi.com/install.sh | bash
It installs into ~/Applications and opens Cedar. Run the same line again any time to reinstall. Cedar needs macOS 26 on an Apple silicon Mac.
“Cedar can’t be opened” or “is damaged”
That happens when the app is downloaded through a browser instead of the installer. Cedar isn’t notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks browser downloads. Delete that copy and use the Terminal line above; it verifies the download and lets macOS open it.
How do updates work?
Cedar checks for a new version about once an hour, downloads it in the background, checks its signature, and has it ready the next time you open Cedar. Nothing relaunches on its own. You can turn this off in Settings › About.
The free week
How does the free trial work?
The first time Cedar opens, it starts a 7-day trial for your Mac. It needs the internet once for that. Everything works during the trial, and Settings › License shows how long is left. When it ends, pages stop opening until you buy; your tabs, bookmarks and passwords stay where they are.
Can I restart the trial?
No. The trial is tied to your Mac, so reinstalling doesn’t reset it. Need a few more days? Email me.
Activating
Where do I enter my key?
Choose Cedar › Settings (⌘,), open License, paste the key and press Activate. The Activate on this Mac button in your welcome email fills it in for you.
“This key is in use on another Mac”
One key works on one Mac. Got a new Mac, or reinstalled macOS? Reply to your purchase email and I’ll move it.
“That key wasn’t recognized”
Copy the key again with the Copy button in your email. If it was refunded or charged back, it no longer activates.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once activated, Cedar renews its license in the background and keeps working for up to three weeks without a connection.
Moving to Cedar
How do I bring my bookmarks and passwords?
The welcome tour offers it the first time. Later: File › Import from Another Browser…. Cedar reads Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge, Firefox and other browsers directly, and Safari from its exported file. Passwords go into your Mac’s keychain.
How do I make Cedar my default browser?
Settings › General › Make default, or System Settings › Desktop & Dock › Default web browser.
An extension doesn’t work
Cedar runs Chrome Web Store extensions on WebKit’s extension support. Some rely on Chrome-only internals and won’t run. Tell me which one; it helps decide what to support next.
Uninstalling
How do I remove Cedar completely?
Export anything you want to keep first: Export… in the Bookmarks panel and in Passwords. Quit Cedar, then run:
rm -rf ~/Applications/Cedar.app ~/Library/Application\ Support/Cedar ~/Library/WebKit/dev.cedar.local; defaults delete dev.cedar.localSaved passwords stay in your keychain until you delete them in the Passwords app.
